HOUSTON, May 17, 2021 — Asia Society welcomed guests to celebrate Houston's Muslim community at a family-friendly event highlighting Eid al-Fitr. Presented by the Tameez family, the all-day festivities featured an array of Islamic arts and traditions to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Visitors enjoyed a bazaar of art, ceramics, and jewelry for sale by local artists, learned to write their names in Arabic, and received a henna tattoo, all presented by the Islamic Arts Society and punctuated by musical performances by Zubair Al Awadi playing the oud. Crafts such as Eid greeting cards, lanterns, and origami khatam stars offered fun ways to learn more about Islamic traditions, and the food truck It's A Wrap! provided halal food for hungry guests.
