ExploreAsia: Culture Camp for Kids

Oceanic Adventure

ExploreAsia: Culture Camp for Kids (Asia Society Texas Center)

ExploreAsia camps are designed to engage students with Asian art, culture, and history.

Visit Oceana and explore the sunny South Pacific islands! Students will learn about the island groups in Micronesia and Polynesia through art projects and activities that include the trade of cultures and goods among the islands. This camp is recommended for students ages 6-12.

Pricing

$225 Members, $275 Nonmembers
For each camp session, a $30 discount will be applied per additional child registered.

About the Instructor

Vehistha Kaikobad has been an educator for 25 years, working in the field of early childhood education based on the Montessori Method. She graduated from the University of Karachi with a B.A. in Philosophy, Psychology, and Political Science, and obtained her Montessori Diploma in 1985 from St. Nicholas College, England. She has served as a School Curriculum Coordinator and a Master Teacher, training interns for the Houston Montessori Center. She was nominated and recognized by the Houston Children’s Museum for the Spirros Martell Teacher of the Year award in 2000. Vehishta currently has been a Senior Docent with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston for 10 years, where she was awarded the presitgious Mary Benedict Docent of Year award in 2008. She is also a Teaching Artist at the Glassell School of Arts, Houston Texas. Additionally, Vehishta has served as a Sunday School Teacher at the Zoroastrian Association of Houston since the 1980s and also volunteers as a docent at the Asia Society Texas Center. Vehistha aspires to serve the cause of education through global understanding and cultural appreciation.
