Stanley Rosen on the Silver Screen in China
HOUSTON, April 10, 2013 — Stanley Rosen, Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern California, joined Asia Society Texas Center Education Coordinator Paul Pass for a discussion about the Chinese film industry.
Questions ranged from perceptions of Western culture in China to how American film companies can enter the Chinese market, which is due to become the world’s largest box office in the next ten years. Professor Rosen also highlighted past joint ventures between the two superpowers and upcoming cooperation, such as the third installments of the Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda franchises.
The interview continues the discussion of Sino-American collaboration on the silver screen that was the featured topic of the third annual US-China Film Summit at Asia Society Southern California in October 2012. (19 min., 23 sec.)
