This Spring Break, explore Asian springtime foods, games, and more!
Join us as each day is dedicated to different cultural, kid-friendly activities. Enjoy picnic food by learning how to make onigiri and spring rolls. Create vivid Rangoli designs with colored sand, play the dragon tail game with friends, fold beautiful lotus flowers, and enjoy the spring breeze as you fly a kite. Plus, take advantage of FREE admission to our exhibition!
Admission is free for all activities, which begin daily at 12 p.m. Children must be accompanied by adults.
Daily Activities
Monday, March 16
Food of Asia
Using craft materials such as clay and paper, create craft versions of Japanese onigiri and Vietnamese spring rolls. Please note these are craft versions of food and no actual food will be prepared or handled.
Tuesday, March 17
Games of Asia
Play different Asian games, such as the Chinese yoyo, the Korean game yunnori, and the fun group game of trying to catch a dragon's tail.
Wednesday, March 18
Flowers of Asia
Learn about the flower traditions of Asia and create lotus flowers and cherry blossoms through the art of origami.
Thursday, March 19
Kites of Asia
Learn how to make different styles of kites! Take inspiration from the colorful kite designs of Afghanistan, or create a traditional Japanese kite and see how high they can fly out on our front lawn.
Friday, March 20
Colors of Asia
Learn about the colorful traditions of Asia as you explore the differences between Rangoli and Mandalas. Take home your own vibrant drawing or design!
Outdoor Film Screenings
Enjoy three different Japanese movies out on our front lawn during Spring Break! Bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and drinks to enjoy during the outdoor screenings.
These screenings are FREE and open to the public. Please RSVP for planning purposes.
