Asian countries are under pressure to meet growing demands for energy amidst calls for reduced carbon emissions. How will their energy needs be met while meeting carbon reduction policies? Join Asia Society Texas and the Australian American Chamber of Commerce for a program examining this key question as we move toward a lower-carbon world. Experts from energy companies active in Asia will discuss the role and readiness of LNG, hydrogen, and renewables to meet these demands.
About the Speakers
Andrew Elliott was educated in Australia, receiving a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in Geology from the University of Melbourne in 1998. Andrew joined Esso Australia Pty Ltd in 1999 as a Geologist, working on a variety of drilling programs in the Gippsland Basin in Australia. In subsequent assignments he has worked on exploration and production projects in a variety of areas, including Sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Asia Pacific. In 2008 he became a Planning Advisor in Houston supporting the Asia Pacific / Middle East Region for Exploration. Andrew became Geoscience Operations Technical Manager in 2011 based in Calgary in which his portfolio ranged from tight oil development, to oil sand mining operations.
In 2014 Andrew became Director of Exploration in Australia with a portfolio ranging from rank wildcat drilling in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, to new opportunity generation for the Asia Pacific Region. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. In 2018 Andrew returned to Houston as a member of the Upstream Organisation Design Team before becoming the Portfolio Manager in early 2019. In this role Andrew was responsible for managing the Upstream Portfolio and for integrating the Upstream Strategy with the Portfolio to evaluate opportunities against strategic priorities and targets. In 2021 Andrew assumed his current role of Strategy and Portfolio Manager in the LNG Global Business Line. In this role, Andrew is responsible for developing and maintaining the LNG Strategy as well as growing and optimising the global LNG portfolio.
Austin Knight assumed the position of vice president of hydrogen for Chevron New Energies in February 2022. In this role, he is responsible for accelerating Chevron’s lower carbon business prospects, including the commercialization of our hydrogen business opportunities. He previously served as the Vice President, Large Industries World Business Line for Air Liquide, a world leader in industrial gases, supplying over 400 global customers with oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas. Addressing climate and energy transition needs for a sustainable future in industrial supply chains through hydrogen, carbon capture, and renewable electricity have been a strong emphasis of his work. In this last role he led the global vision, customer experience, industrial strategy, energy management, and technical roadmap activities for supply of industrial gases to major chemical producers, refineries, and steel manufacturers. In his roles with Air Liquide, Austin also led the Hydrogen business for a number of years, with demonstrated experience in production units, purification plants, storage facilities and pipeline infrastructure for Hydrogen transport. Prior to joining Air Liquide in 2007, he was a lead electrical engineer at Fluor, a leading global engineering, procurement, and construction firm. Austin holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.
Maxwell Pitts is vice president of business development for the low carbon energy sector within Worley. In this role, he is responsible for leading Worley’s lower carbon energy business development growth and strategy in North America. He has 20 years of engineering, procurement, construction, and O&M experience across the energy spectrum including renewables, thermal, nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture and power networks. Prior to joining Worley in 2019, he was a director of business development at Fluor in the power sector. Max holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of South Carolina and a Liberal Arts degree from Auburn University.

About the Moderator
Uday Turaga is Founder & CEO of ADI Analytics, a consulting and research firm based in Houston, Texas, and specializing in oil and gas, energy, chemicals, and industrials. With 20+ years of experience at ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Booz, and ADI, Uday is an expert in oil and gas, energy transition, and chemicals. He has led ADI Analytics since 2009 through 500 projects for 200 clients including ExxonMobil, Shell, Aramco, BASF, GE, KKR, and U.S. Department of Energy. He has a Ph.D. in fuel science from Penn State and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Uday has published over 100 papers, holds two U.S. patents, and has won awards from U.S. National Academy of Engineering, American Chemical Society, and Penn State. Finally, he has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, and Bloomberg.
