About the Exhibitions
Drawn From Nature
Artists have been deeply influenced by nature for centuries, and perhaps nowhere more so than in Asia. Drawn from Nature brings together a group of contemporary artists for whom nature plays a pivotal role in the inspiration for, and execution of, their artworks. Sopheap Pich, Mineko Grimmer, Palden Weinreb, and Seon Ghi Bahk are featured in Asia Society Texas Center’s first-ever exhibition dedicated to nature, allowing visitors to see its continuing impact as a source of artistic inspiration in the contemporary context.
Yeesookyung: Contemporary Korean Sculpture
Tapping into long-standing ceramic traditions in Korea, contemporary artist Yeesookyung transforms the ceramic as a sculptural medium, while still honoring the potters who have preceded her. The resulting, large-scale sculptures take on biomorphic forms, at once whimsical and uncanny.
