Chefs Bring the Heat to December Leo Bar

HOUSTON, December 4, 2014 — Local chefs Donald Chang of Nara Sushi & Korean Kitchen and Mark Gabriel Medina of Soma Sushi battled with beef at Asia Society’s Kobe Cook-Off Leo Bar. KHOU news anchor Lily Jang hosted as a bustling audience gathered closely while the two food gurus spent 30 minutes crafting quirky and inventive dishes in front of their eyes. When time ran out, culinary prowess was judged by food writer Eric Sandler (CultureMap), ABC13 television personality Katherine Whaley, and Joshua Silver (Benjy’s/Local Foods). At the end of the evening, Medina’s Middle Eastern-inspired beef dish was the winner of our prize — the golden wok!
