The film Winners follows nine-year-old Yahya (Parsa Maghami) who works hard alongside other children of his Iranian village to support their families. One day, Yahya and his friend Leyla (Helia Mohammad Khani) find in the desert an Oscar statue that has gone missing. While the authorities search for the lost treasure, Yahya’s boss, who shares his passion for cinema, decides to help the children find the statuette's rightful owner. Featuring icons of Iranian cinema Hossein Abedini and Reza Naji and tributes to filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami, Asghar Farhadi, and Jafar Panahi, Winners is a crowd-pleasing, heartfelt love letter to film.
Winners is the United Kingdom’s official entry for the 2023 Academy Award Best Foreign Language Film. Join us for a screening of Winners, presented as part of the 31st Festival of Films From Iran.

About the Festival of Films From Iran
The 31st edition of the Houston Festival of Films From Iran runs from January 19–27, 2024 at the MFAH. Additional screenings take place at Asia Society Texas and Rice Cinema through February 3.
