NEW YORK, May 4, 2019 — How will Pakistan balance economic growth with environmental stewardship? How will the impact of new roads and industry under the Belt and Road Initiative affect its mountains, rivers, and ecosystem? The panel addressed the likely effect of industrialization on the region, especially in Gilgit-Baltistan province, where many of the country's rivers originate.
