Urban Resilience: How Asia's Cities Bounce Back From Sudden Disasters
ZURICH, October 4, 2022 — In the second session of the two-event series on Urban Resilience in Asia by Asia Society Switzerland and the Swiss Re Institute, experts from Manila, Karachi, Singapore, and Zurich discuss what major challenges these fast-growing cities are facing, and how cities can build resilience to bounce back quickly after a sudden disaster. Keynote speakers include Madhu Raghunath, sector leader for sustainable development for the Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand (BMPT) program at the World Bank; David Lallemant, assistant professor at the Asian School of the Environment of NTU Singapore; and Arif Hasan, architect and urban planner. Panel discussion participants include Amar Rahman, global head of climate change resilience services at Zurich Insurance Company; Christian Wertli, head of infrastructure solutions at Swiss Re; and Thomas Sevcik, co-founder of Arthesia.
