Our Climate Stories: Stories of Culture
November 17, 2022 — In the third installment of Asia Society Philippines’ Our Climate Stories, a panel of experts and advocates discusses the adverse effects of the current climate crisis on indigenous groups, and how these effects harm the rich culture of these communities. Participants include Dr. Noralene Uy, researcher at the International Recovery Platform; Robert Mansalo-on Cahapon, co-founder of Salumayag Youth Collective for Forests; and Oscar M. Lopez Center’s (OMLC) Team Bintuwak Umalohokan fellows Ronald Maliao, Ritchel Cahilig, and Richard Cahilig. OMLC Communications Manager Kato Sarmiento moderates the conversation. (1 hr., 10 min.)
Our Climate Stories is a four-part series that explores four climate change impacts. It is a spin-off of the Oscar M. Lopez Center’s The Balangay Media Project 2021, which highlighted the role of storytelling in addressing climate change.
