Photos: Asia Society Party Kicks Off Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Friday, May 1, 2015 — More than 1,000 people visited Asia Society New York on Friday to help kick off Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a celebration featuring drinks, dancing, and Korean BBQ. Vietnamese-American DJ George Pihlgren provided the beats while the crowd jumped in with NYC Bhangra to learn Indian dance. Other activities included free tours of the Buddhist Art of Myanmar exhibition and a photo booth. Party guests wetted their lips with tea from Charlene Wang of Tranquil Tuesdays and specialty Leotini cocktails while filling their stomachs at the Korilla BBQ truck stationed on Park Avenue and at an Asian-inspired dessert bar with Burmese-American chef Eugene Saw.
