Lifting as We Climb: Global Feminist Revolution for Women's Human Rights
VIEW EVENT DETAILSLeslie Wolfe, President of the Center for Women Policy Studies, will discuss the South Asia Initiative on Women and HIV/AIDS Policymaking, which will take place on December 7, 2009. On the South Asia Initiative, women leaders from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan will address the gender drivers of HIV/AIDS in a part of the world where the epidemic among women is growing rapidly. Dr. Wolfe will provide an overview of this and other ongoing efforts to further the rights of women worldwide.
Before joining the Center, she served as the Director of the Women's Educational Equity Act Program in the U.S. Dept. of Education, and among other posts, has served as the Deputy Director of the Women's Rights Program at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. At the Center, Wolfe directs efforts to bring women's human rights constructs to a range of policy issues, and works closely with a national network of women state legislators in all 50 states.
