Education without Borders

Transforming Learning for Equity in the 21st Century

The World Affairs Council and Asia Society invite you to a special conversation with international experts in the field of education. Join us for this rare opportunity to hear top education leaders from around the world. For the first time Seattle is hosting the ground-breaking Global Cities Education Network conference – participating experts are taking two hours out of their conference schedule to meet with the public.

How often have you seen news items decrying US students’ poor performance on international comparisons of educational achievement? Yet, the US is not alone in facing these education challenges. Representing school systems in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Shanghai, Toronto, and the US, these international experts will discuss current issues that are critical to both Asian and North American school systems:

  • Beyond PISA: Perspectives on the Future of Education in Asia
  • Developing and Sustaining a High Quality Teacher Force

The Global Cities Education Network, an Asia Society initiative, brings together multi-sector teams from cities in the Asia-Pacific region and North America to collaboratively examine common, high priority problems of education policy and practice. This panel discussion is a unique opportunity to hear members of the Network in conversation on pressing challenges to education systems worldwide. Panelists will entertain questions from the audience, as time allows.
