Members Get-Together: Potluck Lunch with La Trobe Asia's Director Bec Strating
VIEW EVENT DETAILSMaritime Security and Disputes in the Indo-Pacific
The (re)emergence of ‘the Indo-Pacific’ strategic geography suggests that the maritime domain is of central importance to understanding shifts in regional power dynamics and increased normative contestation. What role do existing maritime disputes – over maritime territorial features, maritime boundaries and resources – play in the spread and adoption of the new regional construct?
During her seminar at ETH in Zurich Bec Strating will provide an overview of key ongoing maritime disputes in the Indo-Pacific, including the East and South China Sea, and set out the implications of these disputes on the consolidation of the regional security order and mechanisms of maritime governance.
After the seminar we will gather in the Asia Society Switzerland library for a potluck lunch – everyone will bring their own food. Come to the seminar to learn from Bec’s insights and join us for lunch and casual conversations with her and other Asia Society Members – or if you don’t have time for both, come to one or the other.
