Ghiora Aharoni’s work blends the traditional and the modern. His intricate metal and glass sculptures, material studies and pieces showcasing the marriage of seemingly discordant cultures provoke dialogue and test the notion of various constructed dualities. For instance, his piece currently on display at the Asia Society Triennial in New York – Thank God for Making Me a Woman, III – challenges patriarchal notions of gender and religion. He does so by combining the piece’s titular phrase in both Hindu and Urdu into Hindru©, and likewise, Hebrabic©, an amalgamation of Hebrew and Arabic.
Join us for a New York studio visit with the artist himself, where he will give us a tour and discuss some of his recent works. Moderating this event will be Aurelia Rauch, Senior Art Consultant at Bergos.

After her training in museum education at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld and the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster, Aurelia Rauch received her Magistra Artium in Art History at the University of Münster in 2010. Until 2018, she lived and worked in New York City and played an important role in New York's vibrant contemporary art scene, alongside her work in commercial and non-profit art organizations. Most recently she worked as Creative Director at Sperone Westwater on projects with artists such as Bruce Nauman, Susan Rothenberg, Richard Long, Tom Sachs and Ali Banisadr. Since 2018, Aurelia has been the Head of Communications at Bergos & Senior Consultant, Bergos Art Consult – formerly Bergos Berenberg. Bergos is a Corporate Partner of Asia Society Switzerland.
About Art Over Lunch
Art Over Lunch is a monthly event series for members of Asia Society Switzerland. In pandemic-free times, we would visit an exhibition or a special part of a collection with artists, curators and experts for 45 minutes followed by a small lunch. The tours are designed to give members a different view on the vast troves at the museums and galleries in the city of Zurich and provide an opportunity to mingle and discuss. We're currently focusing on digital tours and talks until circumstances permit physical visits once again.
Art over Lunch is made possible with the support of the private bank Bergos.
