FSC promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of and respect for the world’s forests.  

It focuses on standards development, legal compliance, workers’ and Indigenous peoples' rights and conditions, the environment, environmental values and impact, monitoring and assessment, and conservation values.
