Stakeholders
International Standards Organizations generally do not have a direct stake in BRI projects, except in the rare case that one of the subcontractors, contractors, developers, or financiers has formally signed onto the international standards, such as the “Equator Principles.” Often multi-stakeholder in nature, these organizations offer best practices, handbooks, and other resources related to stakeholder engagement and environmental and social assessment and management (ESAM).
Possible Roles and Responsibilities of International Standards Organizations:
- Disclose reports prepared by members including financiers, developers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Develop international best practices and other resources for financiers, developers, contractors, the Chinese Government, the host country government, and other stakeholders.
