Video: The Biggest Challenges Facing Asia
From May 13 to 15, 2011, more than 30 thought leaders from across the Asia-Pacific convened to discuss the most pressing issues facing the region at the 39th annual Williamsburg Conference (by invitation only) in Singapore, co-hosted by Asia Society and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
The experts came from various backgrounds including government, business, academia, civil society, and journalism and focused their conversations on how best to create regional partnerships, particularly in security, trade, and economic integration.
The Conference drew on the work already being carried out by the Asia Society Task Force, America and East Asia Regionalism: A New Strategy for Engagement, which is addressing the perceived lack of U.S. understanding and engagement with the East Asian agenda.
