Asia Society Joins P21, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills
NEW YORK, NY; January 20, 2015 – Asia Society has joined the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21), the nation’s leader advocating for 21st century readiness for every student. By becoming a P21 member, Asia Society joins P21’s diverse coalition of education leaders, the business community, and policymakers supporting student readiness for college, career, and citizenship along the entire continuum of learning.
Tony Jackson, Vice President, Education, will represent Asia Society on P21’s strategic council and will contribute to P21’s ongoing work in building global competence in education: “Education for global competence ensures the foundation of Asia Society’s mission of building mutual understanding and partnerships for the next generation, throughout the world. Global competence encompasses the crucial skillset that students will need to develop for 21st century work, life, and citizenship. We are excited to pursue this partnership with the P21 network to deepen our work and reach in this field, which is central to a shared future of understanding and success between the US and the world.”
“We are thrilled to have a forward-looking partner in Asia Society as we address the challenges of global competence for our students,” said Stephan Turnipseed, chair of P21 and president emeritus and executive director of strategic partnerships at LEGO Education. “After working with Asia Society for many years, we are excited to bring their leadership in global education to P21.”
