Nan Jombang Dance Company

Rantau Berbisik (Whisperings of Exile)

Nan Jombang is one of the most exciting dance companies coming out of Indonesia today. The choreography is both dynamic and elegant. Combining the Minangkabau (West Sumatra) traditions of martial arts, dance and percussion, they create a work that is both reflective of spiritual practice and contemporary expression.

This program is part of Asia Society's ongoing initiative Creative Voices of Muslim Asia, made possible by support from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. For more information, please visit
