Celebrated by the Jain community to observe peace and harmony and to spread the teachings of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of the founder of Jainism or Mahavir Janma Kalyanak and is one of the most auspicious festivals for the Jain community. This immersive event will include the following:
- Storytime: Children will learn about Jainism, its teachings, and the life of Lord Mahavira.
- Chanting: Get into a meditative mindset with a Jain chant led by the Jain Center of America children's choir.
- Food Tasting: Explore the foods and cuisines of the Jain faith. A tasting for the kids will follow the session.
- Games: Learn about the critical tenets of Jainism and how we can apply them in our lives with interactive games for all ages.
- Art: The lotus flower is meaningful in the Jain religion. Learn about its significance and make your own lotus flower!

The Culture Tree provides South Asian-themed educational and cultural programs that enrich the lives of children and their families and promotes a deeper connection with their roots and the world around them. They partner with museums, galleries, schools, and libraries to implement classes and programming, including key festivals and events, puppet shows, bilingual storytime, mindfulness, and language classes in South Asian languages.

Jain Center of America (JCA) New York was founded in 1965. Registered as a non-profit corporation in 1970 in the State of New York, JCA was one of the first organizations established in North America to promote Jain principles and practice and provide a place of worship for the Jain community. The Jain Center’s goal is to envelop the mind, body, and soul of every worshipper that comes through its inviting doors.
