Two views on North Korea
North Korea Talks
North Korea is in the news, and on our minds. Are we headed for a historic turnaround of U.S. - North Korean relations? Or will the mistrust prevail and lead to new conflicts? How will a nuclear North Korea change the Asian power dynamics? And how does it look inside the country, where urbanization and digitalization are reshaping society?
North Korea seems like a black box, an intractable issue with innumerable layers. To shed some light, Asia Society Switzerland’s North Korea Talks in May and June present two very different views on a complex subject.
On May 29/30, we discuss the geopolitical implications and the nuclear threat with internationally renowned North Korea expert John Park. On June 7, former North Korea country director for the Swiss Agency for Development Katharina Zellweger joins us for a conversation focusing on the changes the North Korean society underwent and its implication on the future of Korea.
