Burger Collection Hong Kong is a private collection of contemporary art representing a wide range of works reaching from Euro-American, Indian to Asian art. Important works of the collection are housed in a highly secure storage facility near Zurich, which also serves other collections.
On this exclusive visit, we have the privilige of getting a tour of the facility, which is not open to the public, by Möbel Transport CEO Albert Anneler, followed by an introduction to the collection by collector Monique Burger, who will also discuss the works by artists KP Brehmer, Heidi Bucher, Robert Gober, Shinoh Nam, Wu Shanzhuan, and Yun Suknam, together with Johannes Hoerning. After the tour we will enjoy an apéro together and continue the conversation over drinks and light refreshments.

Monique Burger started the Burger Collection in the late 1990s, following a successful career in private banking and headhunting in Switzerland and Germany. Her key concerns for the collection are to cultivate artistic dialogue, assume responsibility for the works of the collection, conserve the collection, and promote a vision for the future of the collection. The Burger Collection went public for the first time in 2009 with a group show in Berlin, the first chapter of a multi-part project involving shows in different cities. In 2005 she and her husband moved to Hong Kong, where they now live and work. They are patrons and supporters of many different institutions and museums. Monique Burger is on advisory committee of Asia Society Hong Kong and New York. She is a member of the Art Basel Global Patrons Council and since 2018 she is on the board of M+ Museum, Hong Kong.
Albert Anneler is the CEO of Möbel Transport AG, where he has worked since 1985. Previously, he studied economics at the University of St. Gallen and worked for a fine art shipping company in New York.
Johannes Hoerning is a doctoral candidate in Philosophy at Cambridge University and regularly publishes on art and political theory. From 2018-22, Hoerning was lead researcher at M+ Hong Kong for the museum’s Marcel Duchamp collection and archive, focusing on the history of exhibitions and reception of Duchamp in Asia. He received his BA and MPhil in art history and philosophy from Hong Kong University. He has been working closely with the Burger Collection over the years, providing research and support for acquisitions.
