Get an Idea of What It Means to Learn the Language
Have you ever considered learning Chinese? If so, then this event is tailored for you. In collaboration with the Yang Language School, we want to give you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Chinese language and culture. On a Saturday afternoon, teacher Yulong Wang will give an introduction to Chinese and thereby, a first sense of the language and culture. Teacher Debby Germann-Yang will prepare a tea ceremony together with typical snacks to celebrate the Moon Festival starting on September 13, 2019.
The first group will start with the introduction and finish after the tea ceremony. The second group will start with the tea ceremony and then attend the introduction course.

This event is for Asia Society members only. Attendance is limited to 8 participants per group.
The Yang Language School was founded in November 2010 with the aim of offering private and group courses in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) for adults and children. Founder and principal Debby Germann-Yang comes from Taiwan and has lived in Switzerland since 2005. She already worked as a language teacher in Taiwan and Switzerland, where she gained a lot of experience in teaching children and adults. All teachers of Yang Language School have a qualified education in the pedagogical field and have a lot of teaching experience.

Yulong is from Urumqi, Xinjiang, located in the northwest of China. He received his Bachelor degree in English at Sichuan University in Chengdu. Yulong is now enrolled in a MA program at the University of Zurich, where he is in his final year of studying English linguistics and sinology. Before moving to Switzerland in January 2013, he worked as a translator in China and as a Chinese teacher at two schools in Beijing. He has been working at the Yang Language School since 2014.
