SUMMARY:
Asia Society Southern California (ASSC) is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated intern to support its Asian Women Empowered (AWE) initiative.
AWE aims to move the needle toward improved representation and helping Asian women break into leadership, board service and beyond.
As our intern, you will leverage your creativity and exercise your project management, writing, and research skills to support our programming, mentorship, and research initiatives. You’ll get to collaborate with allied organizations and meet incredible Asian women trailblazers committed to investing in the next generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with end-to-end program execution including program and event planning, logistics, promotions, outreach, onsite support, post-event follow-ups and recaps
- Assist with marketing and communications efforts including content development, design, and execution for website, social media, and newsletters
- Conduct research that aligns with our brand, mission, sponsorship, partnership, and community outreach strategies
- Assist with gathering and reviewing data and analysis for surveys
- Monitor the [email protected] inbox and social media platforms
- Create PowerPoint presentations, coordinate meetings, organize and maintain files and databases
- Maintain excellent communication and customer service with external constituencies including donors, special guests, speakers, etc.
- Other duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates should be able to commit to a minimum of 8-10 hours per week for a period of 3 months
- Must be at least a junior in college, a graduate student, or a recent graduate
- Be based in the U.S., as well as have U.S. work authorization
- Must intern at least one day per week in the LA office unless given special approval for remote work
- Availability for events in the evenings and/or weekends may be requested. Events will be in the LA area.
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Interest in and knowledge of Asia and AAPI issues desirable
- Strong organization, planning, research, writing, and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
- Desired technical skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Google Suite (Doc, Sheets, Forms)
- Social media marketing tools and graphic design software (i.e. Canva)
- Event Management platforms (i.e. Eventbrite)

Asian Women Empowered (AWE) is an initiative that was established in 2021 with a mission to convene the world's most influential Asian women to inspire and invest in future generations. Our work will be supported by three pillars: sustainable mentorship that fosters close bonds between established and emerging leaders; programming which educates the public on the intersectional challenges faced by Asian women and spotlights success stories in which Asian women have triumphed; and research conducted in collaboration with allied organizations to tangibly measure the impact of AWE's initiatives. Centered on these three pillars of mentorship, programming, and research, AWE is a full-scale investment into the power and potential of Asian women.
