Development Institutional Relations Summer Internship 2023

FLSA Status:            Non-Exempt (Overtime-Eligible)

Compensation:         $15.00/hour

Est. Start Date:         June 2023

SUMMARY:

Asia Society’s Development department is seeking an energetic intern to assist in activities across our dynamic team, which collaboratively raises funds from individuals, corporates, foundations, and governments. The Development intern will contribute to key activities of the department, including but not limited to planning and promotion for our marquee Asia Game Changer Awards fundraising gala, donor data management, and donor prospect research. This is a great opportunity to gain direct experience of a wide range of development functions at a global non-profit working to navigate shared futures for Asia and the world across the fields of arts and culture, policy, and education.

The Development Intern will develop confidence and marketable skills by engaging in or assisting with a number of substantive activities and projects that have a beginning, middle, and end, thereby making possible the articulation of achieved results. The position will sit on Asia Society’s executive floor in close proximity to senior leadership and interact regularly with all members of the Development team, including the Chief Development Officer. The internship will provide exposure to senior Asia Society leadership and mentorship by a diverse group of experienced professionals.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Assist with the organization, marketing, and execution of the Asia Game Changer Awards, researching major donors, generating promotional and informational materials, managing online communications, and assisting with event coordination and logistical duties.
  • Contribute to research on prospective foundation and government donors across arts, policy, and education, identifying strong alignments between Asia Society programming and funder priorities.
  • Other tasks, as assigned.

REQUIREMETS:

  • Current undergraduate student.
  • Some knowledge of non-profit development operations and an interest in international relations, the arts, and/or education preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Active approach to time and task management, and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with data management (Salesforce or a similar CRM preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
