In 2018, Asia Society New York hosted heads of state and sultans, poets and politicians, musicians, dancers, singers, drag performers, and more. Let's look back on some of our favorite events from the past year.
We kicked things off by taking over Times Square:
Internationally renowned performers took to our stage, bringing to life traditional and contemporary art forms from, inspired by, in dialogue with, and indebted to Asia.
During the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, various government ministers and heads of state engaged in high-level policy, current events, and economic discussions with Asia Society leadership. October saw the return of the organization's marquee Asia Game Changer Awards, which honored trailblazing individuals and groups' positive contributions to the future of Asia. As in past years, our policy and current affairs programs highlighted the progress seasoned diplomats and negotiators were making in the fraught field of U.S.-Asia relations, activities that will undoubtably feature prominently in 2019 and beyond.
We celebrated the power of the arts, the creative influence of Asia in America, and kicked off the Season of India with rollicking parties and glamorous nights on the dance floor. Save the date — the Asia in America celebration is back for round two on May 9, 2019!
Throughout the year, Friday Leo Bars and Family Days bring together the community to experience the bountiful and diverse range of cultural activities, exhibitions, and demonstrations offered by Asia Society New York.
