Dutch-Filipino artist Martha Atienza was recognized for her work Our Island, 11°16`58.4” 123°45`07.0”E with the prestigious Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel last week. Selected by a jury of international art experts and awarded by the Baloise Group, the Baloise Art Prize celebrates the achievements of two rising artists each year.

Atienza’s single-channel video Water Piece 2 was featured in Video Spotlight: Philippines, an exhibition at Asia Society Museum, New York, in 2015 that showcased the recent work of leading Filipino contemporary artists, and provided the first opportunity for U.S. audiences to view these works.
