AIIB is a multilateral development bank (MDB) that seeks to foster sustainable economic development. China initiated the establishment of AIIB, and it is the largest shareholder of the bank. Headquartered in Beijing, AIIB focuses on “green” infrastructure, connectivity and regional cooperation, technology-enabled infrastructure, and private capital mobilization.
