Asia Society is delighted to host His Excellency Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, for an address and discussion on the new government led by its new Prime Minister, H.E. Imran Khan. He will provide his perspective on the government’s priorities both domestic and abroad, its relations with its neighbors Afghanistan and India, its ties with the U.S., and its relationship with China, as well as Pakistan’s role in the Belt and Road Initiative.
H.E. Shah Mahmood Qureshi is Pakistan's Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, previously serving in this position from 2008 to 2011. He has been serving as a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly since 2002, and as the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice) since 2011.
Vali Nasr is Dean of the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies. From 2009 to 2011, he was special adviser to the President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
