Speakers

Wendy Cutler is Vice President and Managing Director of the Washington D.C. Office of the Asia Society Policy Institute, having joined after an illustrious career of nearly three decades as a diplomat and  negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. She served as Acting Deputy U.S Trade Representative, and was responsible for the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, and a wide range of bilateral agreements with Japan.

Daniel Russel is Diplomat in Residence and Senior Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service at the U.S. Department of State, he served until recently as the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Secretary, he served at the White House as Special Assistant to the President and National Security Council’s Senior Director for Asian Affairs. During his tenure there, he helped formulate President Obama’s strategic rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region.

Debra Eisenman (moderator) is Managing Director of the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), where she leads and oversees projects on development, governance, sustainability, and security challenges throughout Asia, and oversees ASPI’s strategy and operations. She has held various roles within the Asia Society’s policy team since she joined in 2011. Prior to that, she worked on the Peacebuilding and Western Balkans grantmaking programs of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, as well as on youth engagement at the National Crime Prevention Council.
