The Center for Global Education is proud to partner with The Culture Tree to feature Simran Jeet Singh's new book in our inaugural reading of the #ownvoices Virtual Reading Room series.
Simran Jeet Singh is the author of a new children's book from Penguin Random House – Fauja Singh Keeps Going: The True Story of the Oldest Person to Ever Run a Marathon – the first from a major publisher to feature a Sikh story.
Fauja broke world records to become the first one hundred-year-old to run a marathon. This book shares valuable lessons on the source of his grit, determination to overcome obstacles, and commitment to positive representation of the Sikh community.
Simran is a writer, teacher, scholar and an activist. He loves sports and signed-up for his first marathon after being inspired by Fauja Singh, and like Fauja he hasn’t stopped running since. Simran believes in the divine goodness of all people. He was born and raised in San Antonio Texas into a Sikh family and now lives in NY with his wife and two daughters.
The session will include a reading by the author followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
#ownvoices Virtual Reading Room will feature carefully curated authors of contemporary children’s fiction books about the Asian and Asian American experience. Please join us on the last Saturday of each month at 1:00 pm ET.
