In the 1960s, Hon Chi-fun began to work on screen printing. Without the help of a computer, everything depends on the artist's hands. Bath of Fire, Given Light, Beyond Space, Frozen Blue, every stroke was done by hand.
Printmaking is a complicated process with many procedures. Despite the printmaking has entered the digital age nowadays, many artists are still insisting on the manual transfer method as the basic creative method for the rich in change and plasticity. In this screen print workshop, instructor from Hong Kong Open Printshop will introduce and demonstrate the screen printing technology used by Hon Chi-fun. Participants will create their own silkscreen prints.
Hong Kong Open Printshop is Hong Kong’s first non-profit open print shop run by artists. It is dedicated to promoting graphic art, encouraging international cultural exchange, enhancing quality and professional standard in artistic expression, and giving back to the community by preserving local print art culture.
