Movers & Shakers

Organized by the Asia Society Hong Kong Center and sponsored by the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation, Movers & Shakers is a 12-month program aimed at developing global competence and leadership skills among Hong Kong students. The goal is to inspire and instill an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset amongst students, and to strengthen their future competitive edge in Hong Kong and beyond.

In a beer market overrun with bland macro beers, Yardley Brothers Beer is packed with authentic flavor and rebellious spirit. This independent, award-winning specialist Hong Kong craft brewery is made up of a team of friends and family dedicated to just one goal - creating beer that tastes phenomenal and showcases real Asian craft beer. Yardley Brothers Beer started on Lamma Island, reflecting the adventurous landscape and rebelliously creative community where everybody from the company resides. They started with the Beer Shack, a pit-stop where thirsty day-trippers could buy beer to go or enjoy a friendly chat over samples of the latest brew. With demand quickly outpacing capacity, they opened The Brewery in Kwai Hing. Yardley Brothers Beer is available at over 30 locations in Hong Kong and exports to Australia, Singapore and Macau. They strive to push the boundaries of craft beer ever further, experimenting with ideas, historical techniques, and new taste combinations to excite and arouse the senses, combining the science and art of brewing to make pure craft.

Founder and Head Brewer, Luke Yardley will provide a tour of the brewing process, followed by a discussion on his entrepreneurial journey, how his career has progressed, the importance of enterprise and entrepreneurship, and why risk-taking and passion are also necessary. The program will conclude with tastings of their brews.
