Greater attention is being paid around the globe to what forms of higher education are required as the world becomes increasingly interconnected. How do we now best prepare students to live full and effective lives? Should the Internet supplant much, or even all, of what colleges and universities currently provide? Professor Adam Falk, president of a leading liberal arts college, will discuss how higher education must adapt to social, political and technological changes.
Professor Adam Falk has been President of Williams College since 2010. Professor Falk joined the college from the Johns Hopkins University, where he served at the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences as the James B. Knapp Dean and earlier as Dean of the Faculty. A high-energy physicist and award-winning academic whose research focuses on elementary particle physics and quantum field theory, Professor Falk is a fellow of the American Physical Society and a winner of prestigious awards from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, the Research Corporation and the Sloan Foundation. Professor Falk graduated with highest distinction as a Morehead-Cain Scholar from the University of North Carolina, and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University, where he received numerous awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
