Lithographic Printing
Besides illustrations, artist Yeung Hok Tak has focused much of his time in creating works using printmaking as a medium in recent years. In this class, in addition to sharing his experience in illustration, he will demonstrate techniques of printmaking which participants will get to apply in art-making under the guidance of Yeung and Hong Kong Open Printshop.
Yeung Hok Tak
Yeung Hok Tak’s art has a strong personal style, with a local flavor. Some people describe his works as masculine, and even mad. One may not relate Yoshitomo Nara’s work to Yeung’s, but Nara is in fact a fan- Nara sees the richness of Hong Kong community culture in Yeung’s art, which he no longer finds in his native Japan. In 2013, Nara curated Yeung’s first exhibition in Kyoto, Japan.
Hong Kong Open Printshop
Founded in 2000, Hong Kong Open Printshop is Hong Kong’s first non-profit print shop run by artists. In 2012, Hong Kong Open Printshop registered as a charitable organization with a mission to promote visual arts with an emphasis on image making, and to give back to the community by providing art education programmes that people of all ages and from all walks of life can enjoy.
