On January 30, the World Health Organization declared a global health emergency on the spread of the novel coronavirus – COVID-19 – that originated in Wuhan. COVID-19 has forced countries around the world to take drastic action, from implementing stringent social distancing measures to nationwide lockdowns, as the world battles one of the worst pandemics in human history. Since February, we have engaged in conversation with renowned public health experts locally and abroad who present the latest facts and findings on COVID-19. In episode 23, Hamilton Hung, Co-Founder of Germagic, and King Lun Yeung, Director of HKUST-CIL Joint Laboratory of Innovative Environmental Health Technologies, will talk about Germagic, a germicidal technology originating in Hong Kong that can eliminate SARS-CoV-2, and over 100+ viruses and bacteria. S. Alice Mong, Executive Director of Asia Society Hong Kong Center, will moderate the conversation.
Hamilton Hung is Co-Founder of Germagic, a home-grown germicidal technology brand that focuses on long-term anti-epidemic control and disinfection. He serves as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Chiaphua Industries Ltd., and Advisor to the HKUST-CIL Joint Laboratory of Environmental Health Technologies. Mr. Hung has 25+ years of expertise in the field of biotechnology, consumer goods and health care products in Asia Pacific. He graduated from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
King Lun Yeung is Director of the HKUST-CIL Joint Laboratory of Innovative Environmental Health Technologies. He is also Professor of the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, and Environment and Sustainability Division of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In addition, Prof. Yeung serves as Co-Director of HKUST ENVF-INA/LMA Joint Laboratory on Environment, and Director of the France-HKUST Innovation Hub. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
