Understanding if China is reforming its economy is critical for business leaders and investors. Important questions loom regarding whether the Chinese government is becoming more open to foreign trade and investment, pursuing structural reforms needed to sustain economic growth, and ensuring fair and market-based competition between domestic and foreign companies. Since 1978, China has made great strides in economic reform, generating both growth opportunities and also disruptions at home and abroad. However this process is far from complete, and the challenges remaining are complex. Rhodium Group founder Daniel Rosen will discuss China’s economy, the state of the government’s reform agenda, and the resulting impact on relations with the U.S. and other countries. He will also present the latest iteration of the China Dashboard, an interactive web dashboard launched in 2017 by the Asia Society Policy Institute and Rhodium Group tracking China’s progress toward its self-defined economic reform goals.

Daniel H. Rosen is the founding partner of Rhodium Group and leads the firm’s work on China. Mr. Rosen has more than two decades of experience analyzing China’s economy, corporate sector and U.S.‐China economic and commercial relations. He is affiliated with a number of American thinktanks focused on international economics and is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University. From 2000‐2001, Mr. Rosen was Senior Adviser for International Economic Policy at the White House National Economic Council and National Security Council. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a board member of the National Committee on U.S.‐China Relations.
