“In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.” Stepping into 2019, Hong Kong Ballet presents The Great Gatsby (Asian Première), a glamorous world of New York high society in the Roaring Twenties. The third installment of our Ballet Happy Hour at Asia Society on 25th January invites you to dress up in the era; and just like the extravagant parties in the book, watch some decadent dance excerpts being rehearsed and enjoy a fabulous drink after!
Septime Webre is an internationally recognized ballet director, choreographer, educator and advocate. He assumed artistic directorship of Hong Kong Ballet from July 2017, prior to that, he led The Washington Ballet for 17 years and the American Repertory Ballet from 1993-1999. In addition, Webre is the Artistic Director of Halcyon, an annual international Festival for Creativity in Washington DC. As a choreographer, Webre has worked various renowned ballet companies, and he has worked frequently in theatre and opera. As a dancer, He danced solo and principal roles from the classical repertoire and contemporary works. He has served on the juries of international ballet competitions. He has served on the board of Dance/USA.
