[WEBCAST] Australia and India: New Ideas for the New Normal
VIEW EVENT DETAILSHow talent and innovation can shape the next chapter of the Australia-India relationship
Australia and India have set ambitious bilateral economic targets with the release of the India Economic Strategy by the Australian Government and the upcoming release of India’s own Australia economic strategy. Despite early cause for optimism in May following a virtual summit between Prime Ministers Morrison and Modi, momentum across our trading relationship has slowed significantly due to continuing fallout from the global health and economic crisis. On the other hand, a rapid global digitisation has paved the way for new ways of thinking, particularly among our younger generations. India has long been an innovation powerhouse, and with the launch of government initiative ‘Start-up India’ it is seeing remarkable growth in start-up economy over the past five years, driven by its tech savvy and young population. What lessons can Australia take from India’s emerging start-up success? What role can the start- up sector, innovation economy and growing mobility of talent, capital and people between our nations play in ensuring Australia and India meet their pre-pandemic economic commitments?
Asia Society Australia and Deakin University, in partnership with the Indian School of Business, warmly invite you to a public event unpacking start-up and innovation trends across India and Australia. Join Asia Society Australia-Victoria Distinguished Fellow and Country Head of Softbank India, Manoj Kohli, in-conversation with emerging entrepreneur and Founder of Australian South Asian Centre, Daizy Maan, for a timely discussion on the need for young talent and entrepreneurship in realigning the Australia-India relationship.
