Stuart Fuller

Stuart Fuller
Global Head of Legal Services
KPMG

Stuart is Global Head of Legal Services for KPMG International and is also its Asia Pacific Regional Leader for Legal Services. In those roles, he leads a team of more than 2,700 legal professionals across 80 jurisdictions in KPMG’s global legal services network.

Prior to joining KPMG in March 2018, Stuart was the inaugural Global Managing Partner of King & Wood Mallesons, based in Hong Kong, having led the combination of those law firms in 2012. Stuart was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons for 20 years, first practising as a capital markets, securisation and financial markets regulatory expert, and then holding a number of management and leadership roles across the firm and the capital markets industry in Australia.

Stuart is a member of the UNSW Law Advisory Council. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of laws degree from the University of New South Wales.

Swati Dave is an experienced senior banking executive and non-executive director with an established track record of successfully leading and growing complex P&L businesses in Australia, the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Swati has over 30 years’ banking and finance experience across a number of sectors including infrastructure, energy and utilities, renewable energy and property. She has held senior positions at National Australia Bank, Deutsche Bank, AMP Henderson Global Investors, Bankers Trust and Westpac.

Swati currently serves on the boards of State Super and Asia Society Australia. She is a Member of the Australian Government’s Advisory Board of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations. She has served as a former director of Australian Hearing, Great Western Bancorp Inc. (USA) and the NAB Wealth Responsible Entity Boards.

Swati holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees.

BRIGG Nicole

Nicole Brigg is the Chief Operating Officer of the National Skin Cancer Centres, Australia’s leading provider of skin cancer services. Previously, Nicole was the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) at Macquarie University in Sydney, with responsibility for a global portfolio that included international business development, transnational education programs, pathways and scholarships, international relations, student and staff global mobility and international operations.

Nicole has also held similar roles at Griffith University and in the Queensland Department of Education.

Nicole holds undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Mandarin from the ANU, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Marketing and Business Management from Monash University, and the Australian Company Director’s Diploma.

Evie Bruce

Evie Bruce
Group General Counsel and Head of the Legal and Governance group, Macquarie Group

Evie Bruce is Group General Counsel and Head of the Legal and Governance group, Macquarie Group. She was previously Australian Managing Partner for King & Wood Mallesons’ Mergers & Acquisitions and Banking & Finance practice teams. 

Prior to these roles, she led a successful practice specialising in M&A (public and private M&A, schemes of arrangement, reconstructions and joint ventures) and capital markets (IPOs, secondary capital raisings and hybrid and retail debt securities offerings). Evie has extensive experience advising large companies and emerging enterprises across a range of sectors, including financial services, private equity and infrastructure.

Evie was ranked by Chambers, in its list of 40 Outstanding Young Partners in the Asia Pacific for 2014 and is also ranked in various other legal industry publications including Best Lawyers in Australia, Who's Who Legal and The International Who’s Who of Capital Markets Lawyers.

Evie is on the board of Asia Society Australia, has written columns on trends in M&A for the Australian Financial Review and has been a Visiting Lecturer at Monash University teaching a course in equity capital markets law.  Evie is also a member of the Corporations Committee of the Law Council of Australia and Chief Executive Women.

Grant Dooley

Grant Dooley

Breakthrough Victoria

Grant Dooley is Chief Executive Officer of Breakthrough Victoria, an independent investment management company established in 2021 to invest and manage the Victorian Government’s landmark $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund.

Breakthrough Victoria will target investments in innovation and translational research with strong potential for commercialisation across five key industry sectors such as health and life-sciences, agri-food, advanced manufacturing, clean economy and digital technologies. 

Previously, he was the Chief Executive Officer of ARA Infrastructure, a part of Asset Management Limited, a Singapore-based integrated real assets fund manager.

Prior to joining Hastings, Grant was Australia’s Consul-General in Guangzhou, China. As Consul-General, Grant led a 120-strong team responsible for all aspects of Australia’s relationship with south China including trade development, investment attraction and political relations. This included building effective relationships with senior Chinese Party leaders, government officials and leading Chinese State-owned enterprises and private-sector companies to promote Australian Government policies and commercial interests.

Previous to his role as Consul-General in Guangzhou, Grant was a Director of the China Trade and Economic area at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra and, prior to this role, served the Australian Government overseas in Jakarta, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. Grant has a Masters of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (with majors in Mandarin Chinese and Asian History) from the Australian National University.

David Epstein FAICD heads the Chifley Research Centre, is Chair of Communications Compliance Ltd and an Adjunct Professor at Deakin Business School.

Educated at the ANU and Wharton, David is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A former Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, he led group public affairs at Qantas and BHP, legal and corporate affairs at Singtel-Optus, and was Head of Media in two Australian Governments.

A retired director of Opera Australia, he maintains strong interests in the arts, writing, outdoor pursuits, and photography. He received the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation in 2020.

Andrew MacIntyre leads Monash University’s expanding engagement in Southeast Asia. Previously roles include DVC Global Development, Dean at the ANU and founding Director of its Crawford School of Public Policy, and Professor at University of California, San Diego. 

Andrew also serves on the boards of the Asia Foundation Australia, the Australian Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation and earlier the Australian-American Leadership Dialogue. He has been a consultant to governments, international institutions and corporations around the region. 

He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, recipient of the Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendation and the Presidential Friends of Indonesia award.

Wayne Spanner is an experienced global executive and current Global Chief Strategic Alignment, Innovation and People Officer of Norton Rose Fulbright. He is a member of the Global Executive Committee global executive committee in the management of the global firm, a US$2 billion business, with over 1,200 partners and 7,500 people around the world.

He was previously the Managing Partner of the Australian practice of Norton Rose Fulbright from 2012 to 2020. He is also an experienced litigator with a background in employment and labour law, having spent over 25 years in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Wayne is also a Non-Executive Director of Resimac Group Limited, a leading non-bank residential mortgage lender. He has served on the Board since February 2020.

He is a member of the Business Council of Australia (since 2012) and he serves alongside leaders of corporate Australia. Until 2021 he chaired the BCA’s Workplace Relations Advisory Group, formed to place renewed focus on the need for companies to have enhanced workplace flexibility in order to remain internationally competitive and more recently the BCA response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is a board member of Asia Society Australia (2017 to present) and was a councillor to the Australian British Chamber of Commerce from 2012 to 2020.

Alice Wong

Alice Wong brings more than thirty-eight years experience in senior banking and multicultural community relations. She held a number of senior positions in banking, including Head of Asian Leadership at the Westpac Group, Head of International Customer Services at the Bank of Melbourne, and Head of Asia and Migrant Markets at Westpac.

Alice is Chair of the Chinese Studies Research Centre Advisory Board at La Trobe University.  She is a Board Member of the Asia Society Australia, and Patron of the Chinese Cancer and Chronic Illness Society of Victoria. She is a member of the La Trobe Business School Advisory Board and also a Special Advisor to the Bangarra Group Board. She was formerly a member of the Prime Minister’s Reference Group for the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program and a member of the Asia Century Advisory Committee of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.

Alice is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
