VIEW EVENT DETAILSAsia Society’s world-renowned Asia Game Changer series comes to Australia. The Melbourne Asia Game Changer (MAGC) initiative will showcase under-recognised and inspirational individuals who are making a positive contribution to Asia and Australia’s future in the region. The series will bring greater acknowledgement to Australians, especially Asian-Australians, who are making a positive impact across the region in the fields of the arts, health, science, sport, business, media and other areas engagement.
The program draws on the highly successful Asia Game Changer Awards by Asia Society New York. The Asia Game Changer Awards, launched in 2014, are designed to fill a vital gap, identifying and honouring true leaders who are making a positive contribution to the future of Asia.
Our vision is for MAGC is to become a global and national initiative that attracts widespread attention, is recognised as a leading award program and that delivers tangible economic and community outcomes to Melbourne and Victoria, as well as Australia as a whole. It aims to showcase Melbourne and Victoria as Australia’s cultural and intellectual gateway to Asia.
On 18 November, following a three-month national nomination campaign, we will be celebrating our three inaugural Game Changers: Daizy Maan, Founder of Australian Digital Job Accelerator & Australian South Asian Centre, Ly Tran, Professor, School of Education, Deakin University and Australian Research Council Future Fellow, and Leah Jing McIntosh, Editor of Liminal Magazine. Daizy, Ly and Leah will join Television Host, Writer, and MasterChef Australia Judge Melissa Leong for an evening of storytelling and celebration.
