Executive Briefing | Peak China? Unravelling the implications of China’s economic slowdown.
VIEW EVENT DETAILSAsia Society Australia is pleased to invite you to an exclusive invite-only Executive Briefing with Dr Evan Medeiros, Senior Fellow for Foreign Policy at the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis (CCA), Professor and Penner Family Chair, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, and Mr Andrew Polk, Co-founder and Head of Economic Research at Trivium China, a Beijing-based strategic advisory firm.
China’s status as a global economic powerhouse, with predictions that it would surpass the U.S. by the end of this decade, has long been a factor in geopolitics.
This briefing will explore the headwinds that are complicating China’s once-explosive growth trajectory, including structural challenges, trade tensions, derisking, technological advancements, and the energy transition as well as domestic political factors in China and increasing geopolitical tensions. Evan and Andrew will assess whether we have actually seen ‘Peak China’ and, indeed, if the concept has merit. We will delve into China's economic outlook, the implications for businesses and investors, and what it means for Australia and the rest of the world.
Following remarks from Evan and Andrew, participants will be invited to ask questions and share their perspectives.
This event is invitation-only and registration is essential. For any enquiries, please contact [email protected].
