Understanding Chinese Art from Past to Present

China’s re-emergence as a global economic power has coincided with its growing importance in the international contemporary art world.

Over four weeknights in August, NGV curators and special guests guide participants through China’s social, political and cultural history, discovering the development of Chinese art from past to present.

Course dates:

  1. Wed 7 Aug, 6.30–8.30pm | Introduction to Chinese Art, Culture and Beliefs
  2. Wed 14 Aug, 6.30–8.30pm | Beauty, Nature and the Environment in Chinese Art and Culture
  3. Wed 21 Aug, 6.30–8.30pm | Mao and the Cultural Revolution
  4. Wed 28 Aug, 6.30–8.30pm | The Chinese Century

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Venue: Members Lounge, National Gallery of Victoria
