Asia 21 Young Leaders Recognized as Young Global Leaders Class of 2013
While we are overjoyed to see the familiar names on the World Economic Forum’s recently announced list, it came as no surprise because we are already cognizant of their potential and commitment to value-based leadership. They have all been deeply involved with our Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative as we help build relationships, engage in transnational and interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange, and develop cooperative responses for addressing shared challenges.
Asia 21 Young leaders who have been selected in Young Global Leaders 2013 class include Aaron Maniam, Director of the Institute of Policy Development, Singapore Civil Service College; Chair of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA’s) Youth Club; and a recipient of the Singapore Youth Award in June 2012; Academy Award and Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who was listed in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2012 and the first non-American to be awarded the Livingston Award for best international reporting; and Asif Saleh, Senior Director of Strategy, Communications and Capacity Division at BRAC and President of Drishtipat (Take Notice); Arunabha Ghosh, CEO of the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). He was previously a Global Leaders Fellow at Princeton and Oxford, and co-authored several UNDP Human Development Reports. Ali Zuashkiani is the fifth member of the Asia 21 community who has been selected as a YGL. He is the director of educational and industrial projects at the Center for Maintenance Optimizations and Reliability Engineering at the University of Toronto, and he is also the CEO of the Physical Asset Management Company with offices in Toronto and Tehran.
We thank WEF for recognizing our brilliant young leaders and wish them continued success!
