2023 Asia 21 Next Generation Fellows Summit
December 7-9 / Seoul, Korea
Leadership for a Shared Region
The Asia 21 Next Generation Fellows Summit will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea from December 7 to 9 under the theme “Leadership for a Shared Region.” Seoul has a special place in the history of Asia 21. Nearly two decades ago, the inaugural Asia 21 Summit was held in this city, kick-starting Asia 21 as a global leadership initiative.
In 2016, the Asia 21 Summit returned to Seoul to mark ten years since the first annual gathering was held in Korea. This year’s summit will be special again for two reasons. Our forum will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Asia Society Korea Center, which has become the leading hub in Korea for programs on Asian security, business, and culture.
This year’s Summit will also launch our plans to revitalize Asia 21. Asia today is distinctly different from 2006 when the program was launched. The region today is marked by fragmentation and geopolitical tensions, a fragile economy, climate challenges, and rapid technological and societal changes. But Asia continues to be peaceful, economically dynamic, innovative, and more omnipresent than ever in its cultural power. We will ask a fundamental question: What qualities will our region’s new leaders need to keep Asia secure and thriving in the 21st century?
