Ambassadors' Hour: Women Diplomats Network
VIEW EVENT DETAILS“Women play a crucial role in developing human sensitivity, compassion, and non-violence which are often lacking in today’s world.” ⏤ Dalai Lama
With the rise of the 21st century, the world has witnessed the emergence of the pivotal role of women in social, economic, and political development. As the playing field becomes leveled, various champions have stood up to be an exponent of change; including women in diplomacy.
Last November 2022, the European External Action Service (EEAS) launched the WomEn DIplomats Network of the EU or WEDIN EU, a network that aims to provide a platform for dialogue among women diplomats in EEAS. With this progress in championing the importance of feminist diplomacy, we wonder if such advancement can be modeled in Asia and in its regional organizations; say, in the ASEAN or in SAARC?
In Ambassadors’ Hour: Women Diplomats Network, Asia Society Philippines sits down with women ambassadors from the newly launched WEDIN EU to discuss the journey and milestones of women diplomats; how new strides and movements such as WEDIN EU open more doors toward women empowerment; and how the same can be echoed in the region.
The program is set to be interactive with attendees having the opportunity to send their questions to the panel on March 16, 2023 (Thursday), at 3:00 PM at the Manila House, BGC. The panel discussion will be followed by socials with appetizers and drinks served.
