Despite the current critiques of globalization in many circles, the movement of capital, goods, services, people and ideas will no doubt continue. Also globalization of higher education has been rapidly accelerating over the last quarter century. In this talk, Nicholas Dirks argues that it is only with reform in our education system that globalization can emerge in a more equitable and sustainable form. This reform must center globalization in priorities on cultural understanding, exchange, and collaboration. Nicholas Dirks, Professor University of California, Berkeley and Vice Chairman and Chancellor of Whittle School & Studios, believes that despite the current criticism of globalization, the heyday of globalization is just beginning. Educational reform is a critical part of this story. He argues that globalization will emerge stronger and will be more durable and will discuss new approaches to deepening this global engagement.
