Makoto Iokibe is the President of the National Defense Academy in Japan. Prior to that, he has been a Professor at the Graduate School of Law and the Faculty of Law at Kobe University and Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Social Science. Overseas, he has been a Visiting Professor and Visiting Fellow at Harvard University and Visiting Fellow at the University of London. Iokibe was a member of the Council for Reforming the Ministry of Defense; Chair of Prime Minister Fukuda's Foreign Policy Study Group; and member of The Prime Minister's Advisory Group on Security and Defense. He received his B.A. in Laws, M.A in Laws and LL.D. from Kyoto University.
